YOUR BOTTOM LINE!

Managers Can Register Now for FREE Bed Bug Educational Training Hosted by Clark Pest Control

LODI, Calif. (January 11, 2012) – It’s no secret that bed bugs are still everywhere – in apartments, houses and hotels, college dormitories, hospitals, offices, retail stores, public transportation, laundromats and even movie theaters.  And since a majority of industry professionals consider bed bugs to be THE most difficult pest to treat (NPMA, 2010), Clark Pest Control is coming to San Diego to help educate these facility managers with a free one-day seminar called “Bed Bugs: Know The Truth.”

Only 100 spots are available for anyone who manages a facility or property where bed bugs could be a problem.  The “Bed Bugs: Know The Truth” event in San Diego will be held on Friday, February 3rd from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Hilton Mission Bay (1775 East Mission Bay Dr., San Diego).  Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

“Because San Diego is a popular tourist destination, it is even more susceptible to bed bugs than many other cities, so our goal is to help educate the community about solutions to this serious pest problem,” said Robert Baker, operations manager, Clark Pest Control.  “We want the people in charge of these facilities to be able to make smart and timely decisions if and when they are faced with having to identify and fight bed bugs.”

The event will provide guests answers to many common myths about bed bugs, such as whether or not they transmit diseases and are a sign of poor sanitation, and if you can see them with the naked eye.  Experts will also educate guests on the newest ways to detect and control bed bugs, as well as how a bed bug infestation can affect a business’ bottom line.  Speakers include Jim Fredricks from the National Pest Management Association, Gail Getty from the UC Extension, and Jeff Lipman of the Lipman Law Firm that deals with bed bug litigation and other industry experts.

Anyone interested in registering for the San Diego “Bed Bugs: Know The Truth” event may call 877-918-9988 or email salesteam@clarkpest.com.

The “Bed Bugs: Know The Truth” events will also be held in Rohnert Park on February 1st and in San Mateo on February 2nd.

In Honor of Earth Day, Clark Pest Control Hosts Beach Clean-Up in Half Moon Bay

What:

Clark Pest Control is committed to making S.M.A.R.T. choices and a smaller footprint – through it’s pest management services and its business operations.  So in honor of Earth Day, the company has teamed up with the Pacifica Beach Coalition to help clean up Poplar Beach in Half Moon Bay.

CLARK PEST CONTROL EXPANDS WITH NEW ACQUISITIONS

Pest Management Leader Purchases Businesses in Reno & San Diego

LODI, Calif. (January 22, 2011) –  In recent months, industry leader Clark Pest Control has taken steps to expand its business with the acquisition of High Desert Pest Control in Reno and Smart Pest Control in San Diego.  Because the company currently operates and has branch offices in both of these markets, these purchases not only expand Clark’s customer base in Reno and San Diego, but they also help the company provide more efficient and diversified services for its new and existing customers.

High Desert Pest Control was purchased by Clark Pest Control on December 1, 2010, from Mike and Kim Rife, who started the company in 1980.  High Desert’s base of agricultural-related tree spraying customers allo/ws Clark to diversify into this new area of business while still servicing both companies’ general pest control customers.   The High Desert staff, including the previous owners Mike and Kim, will continue as Clark employees but the technicians’ territories will be condensed to make the routes more efficient.

Although Smart Pest Control was a young company, its customer base is valuable as Clark Pest Control strives to grow its market share in San Diego.  The purchase of Smart PC on January 7, 2011, improves Clark’s market density in the region for general pest control, termite issues and agricultural services.

“We are excited about the opportunities that these acquisitions afford us,” said Joe Clark, president and owner, Clark Pest Control.  “We were looking to expand in Reno and San Diego where we already have an established infrastructure, but could still grow our market share by adding new customers, diversifying services and condensing costs to become more efficient without sacrificing quality.”

The owners of both High Desert and Smart Pest Control were willing to sell to Clark Pest Control for many reasons, but primarily because they are the industry leader, and a family-owned and operated business that is able to provide better and cheaper health care options and retirement plans that will improve the lives of their employees.

Clark Pest Control, headquartered in Lodi, Calif., is the West’s largest family-owned pest management company.  With more than 1,000 highly trained employees servicing more than 164,000 clients, Clark Pest Control provides California and Nevada residents the most effective and reliable pest control in the world by integrating technology with environmental responsibility.  Using personalized pest control programs for homes, schools, businesses industries and agriculture, the company specializes in pest and termite control, structural repairs, IPM for schools, fumigation and food safety.  www.clarkpest.com

CLARK NEEDS YOU...TO COME OUT AND HELP THE HOSPITALS IN HAITI

Clark Pest Control holds free “Photo Booth Fundraiser”

during Best in the West Rib Cook-Off

LODI, Calif. (August 18, 2010) – Clark Pest Control is returning to the Best in the West Rib Cook-Off, but this year, they are asking area residents to help them raise awareness and money for an important cause – the hospitals in Haiti that were devastated by the earthquake and are now suffering from uncontrolled pest infestations.

By simply showing up and taking your picture in the free “Photo Booth Fundraiser,” you can help raise money for these medical facilities in Haiti.  A professional photo booth – the kind where you walk in, pose and take away the fun photo strip – will be set up at the event.   For every person that takes their picture in the booth between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 4th and Sunday, September 5th, Clark Pest Control will donate $5 to the Pest Management Pledge campaign.

The free Photo Booth Fundraiser will be at the Clark Pest Control Booth at Victorian Square (near the Kid’s Area) in Sparks, Nevada throughout the Best in the West Rib Cook-Off.

Earlier this year, the Haitian government called upon the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and a select group of industry executives – including Terry Clark, vice president of Clark Pest Control – to assist the country in dealing with pest and rodent control problems caused by the January 12th earthquake.  While the country is still dealing with widespread damage to its infrastructure and health and safety issues for its people, there are other major concerns that are not often discussed – like bugs.  And yet, these issues are very severe, especially in the hospitals in Port au Prince.

The pest control industry – including Clark Pest Control – has made a pledge to raise money for maintenance to these medical facilities, the purchase of products to prevent pest infestations, training of Haitian workers, and a campaign to educate Haitians on how to minimize the threats of pests and the diseases they carry.  The conditions in the hospitals are deplorable and we need your help to make it better.   (More details about this campaign and Clark Pest Control’s involvement in the campaign are available upon request or at http://www.npmapestworld.org/Haiti.htm.)

In addition to the Photo Booth Fundraiser, Clark Pest Control’s mascot Timmy the Termite will be wandering around the event to interact with consumers and give away bug candy, and the company will also be giving away other prizes throughout the weekend.

Clark Pest Control EXECUTIVE ASKED TO AID HAITI GOVERNMENT WITH POST-EARTHQUAKE PEST ISSUES

Clark Pest Control EXECUTIVE ASKED TO AID HAITI GOVERNMENT WITH POST-EARTHQUAKE PEST ISSUES

Terry Clark Traveling to Haiti with National Pest Management Association to

Assess & Treat the Country's Pest Management Needs

LODI, Calif. (April 28, 2010) - We are all aware of the destruction caused by the major earthquake that hit Port au Prince, Haiti on January 12th.  While the country is still dealing with widespread damage to its infrastructure and health and safety issues for its people, there are other major concerns that are not often discussed - like bugs.

The Haitian government recently called upon the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and a select group of its delegates to assist the country in dealing with pest and rodent control. Terry Clark, vice president of Clark Pest Control in Lodi, Calif., was asked to participate in this effort because of his previous work with the NPMA Board of Directors.  Terry is known to be a ‘creative thinker' and they need this type of out-of-the-box thinking to build action plans and guide the implementation of the pest management solutions in the Haiti disaster area.

"I am thrilled at the opportunity help with this relief effort in Haiti," said Terry Clark, vice president, Clark Pest Control.  "The personal risks are there but it is important that we share the resources and technology we have with a community that truly needs our help because I know we can go over there and make a real difference."

The NPMA team is focusing on three major pest problems in the tent cities and the hospitals.  Port-au-Prince and its surrounding areas are overrun with pests including flies, rodents and cockroaches, and it is causing major health and safety concerns for the Haitian people. Yet the pest control plans must take many issues into consideration - including the heat and humidity, especially as we are nearing the onset of hurricane season.

Some of the health risks posed by the pests include the transmission of pathogens and bacteria such as E-coli and Salmonella that can result in illness and disease, increased potential for asthma attacks and respiratory distress due to cockroach and rodent allergens and food contamination.  In addition, the flies are so bad in the latrines that people are choosing not to use them and leaving their personal waste outside instead.

"This will by far be the largest rodent control job I have personally worked on," said Terry Clark. "And I have seen infestations exceeding 10,000 rats at one property."

While Terry is in Haiti participating in the Haitian Relief effort, Clark Pest Control will be tracking his work and experience through an online blog at http://blog.clarkpest.com.

The primary mission of this first delegation leaving May 5th is to assess current pest issues and potential infestation risk factors.  The group of NPMA delegates will then determine the number of follow-up visits needed to implement control measures and monitor the results moving forward.

"The Haitian people are facing a long and hard recovery and it is important that we provide continued support that will see them through," added Clark.

Marysville Girl Stars in Statewide

TV Advertising campaign Beginning April 5th

Clark Pest Control launching TV ads featuring the winner

of its statewide talent search

LODI, Calif. (April 5, 2010) - Beginning Monday, April 5th, Clark Pest Control's 2010 television advertising campaign will air on stations across California as well as in Reno, NV.  This year's campaign features a 10-year girl from Marysville named Mariah Glassgow.  Mariah isn't an actress - she's just a regular fifth-grade student who won the role at an audition in Reno last year.

Out of more than 600 people who auditioned last summer, Clark Pest Control selected Mariah as the winner of its competition for the role in this year's campaign.  Thousands of her commercial spots will air between April and October 2010 on local broadcast stations and cable networks during peak newscasts and programs.

Clark Pest Control has historically used humor in its commercials to convey the many problems its customers are encountering and the services they provide to counteract those issues.  The storyline of this year's ad pokes fun at the everyday issues families face when dealing with bugs and pests in their homes and backyards.

Since 2008, Clark Pest Control has held open auditions in various cities across California and Nevada looking for talent.  This is the second consecutive year that the company has cast someone in its advertising campaign that was discovered during these auditions.

"We are always overwhelmed by the amount of talented people we find at our auditions, but Mariah really stood out from the crowd and had all the qualities we were looking for in an actor for this year's campaign" said Robert Baker, operations manager, Clark Pest Control.  "Despite being a young girl, she was very professional and a natural on camera."

Mariah Glassgow is a student as Walter Kynoch Elementary School in Marysville, Calif.  Not only is she active in sports such as softball and gymnastics, but she is also an excellent student.  She loves to sing and dance, and hopes to pursue acting in the future.

Clark Pest Control, headquartered in Lodi, Calif., is the West's largest family-owned pest management company.
