Harvester Ant
Physical Characteristics
Harvester ants are and are light red to reddish brown in color. 
Behavior
Harvester ants are urban pests although they do not invade home or structures. Nests are mounds and be as small as 12 in diameter to 53 in diameter depending on the species. Mounds maybe covered with pebbles, charcoal or even fragments of dead vegetation that is used to keep the heat in the nest. The Harvester ants name comes from them removing all vegetation while collecting seeds resulting in large bare spots in vegetation and lawns.
The Harvester ant can be aggressive when defending its nest, resulting in in stings similar to a bee sting.
Treatment
Treating Harvester ants should be handled by a trained license professional do to the Harvester ants aggressive nature. Most can be controlled with Clark's Year Round Pest Control. However, in cases of heavy, difficult infestations a combination of residual barriers and baits may be used.
