DRIVE THRU & DONATE - Clark Pest and Toys for Tots

Clark Pest Control is holding a drive-thru toy collection on behalf of Toys for Tots

On Friday, November 26th, anyone who is able to contribute can simply drive by and drop off new, unwrapped toys into collection bins set up right near the street.  It is convenient and easy, yet will make a big difference in the lives of many young children in our community this holiday season.

Clark Pest Control’s goal is to double last year’s collection of more than two truckloads of toys!

But for anyone who misses the drive-thru donation day, the company will also be accepting donations in the office lobby throughout the month of December.

In addition, Clark Pest Control will have Toys for Tots bins placed in front of various businesses in downtown Lodi for the city’s Winterfest celebration on November 27th, December 4th, and December 11th.  And, most of Clark’s 22 branch locations throughout California are also participating in the toy drive.  Consumers can find the nearest office location at

4 days till Christmas - Easy Coffee Filter Angel Ornament

By: Amanda Formaroangle ornament

Difficulty: Easy

Age: 6 and up

This pretty little coffee filter angel is perfect as is, but you can dress her up with glitter to give her an extra special glow.

What you'll need:

  • 3 basket style coffee filters
  • 2 cotton balls
  • 6-8" length of silver or gold ribbon
  • 1 white chenille stem
  • 1 gold chenille stem
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun

How to make it:

  1. Place two cotton balls in the center of one of the coffee filters (see image).
  2. Hold the coffee filter with your fingers, gathering the cotton balls in the center to create the angel's head.
  3. Place a second coffee filter onto the open end, tucking the filter in a bit into the head area. This will produce the layered effect on the dress (see image).
  4. While still holding the filter together, tie a piece of gold or silver ribbon around the "neck" and tie a tight bow. Trim ends and set aside (see image).
  5. Take the third coffee filter and fold it in half, then fold the filter up length-wise accordion style. Wrap a white chenille stem around the center, and then fan out the wings (see image). Fold the excess chenille into a loop for your hanger and twist together at the end.
  6. Make a halo from the gold chenille by wrapping it around something circular, such as the top of a paint bottle. Twist the ends to form the halo. Trim the long end of the chenille, leaving approximately 3" (see image).
  7. Have an adult hot glue the halo to the back of the angel so that it is positioned above the head.
  8. Glue the wings in place behind the angel, hiding the gold chenille from the halo.

  • To embellish your angel, try using gold glitter glue or glue and glitter as decoration.
  • We do not recommend using markers for facial features as the ink may bleed through the filter.
  • If you really want to add facial features, try using a toothpick and acrylic paint.

9 days Till Christmas - Christmas Movie with a giant Spider!

Today is officially 9 days till Christmas eve! Today's feature is one of my favorite movies Home Alone. When watching this movie, watch for the scene where Kevin places a Tarantula on Marv's head, still to this day I cannot figure out what species of Tarantula this is, reminds me of a G. Rosea though.

SynopsisHome Alone

Home Alone is a movie series that was based on the adventures of a boy named Kevin (with the exception of the third film which focuses on a child named Alex Pruitt). The term usually refers to the first film in the series, which at the time was the third highest grossing film yet, making a major star of lead actor Macaulay Culkin.

After a fight with his older brother, Buzz, over pizza, Kevin McCallister (Culkin) gets sent to the attic bedroom, where he wishes that his family would simply disappear. An electrical line failure during the night resets all the alarm clocks, so the next morning the rest of the family, who have overslept, rush to leave to go on a Christmas vacation to Paris, France. During the confusion, Kevin is accidentally left at home and experiences what it is like to be independent for the first time. At the same time two intruders, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), plan to break into the (almost) vacant home. Kevin musters up a plan not only to stop the burglars but also to punish them through different boobytraps set around his house, which include flying paint cans, a BB gun, and a doorknob heated with an electric charcoal lighter.

If you have not seen this movie I highly recomed it, and if you have, like me I will be watching it again this holiday season!

Whats in your Christmas Tree?

We are FINALLY in December and like most I LOVE the holiday season, the smell of fresh baked cookies, the holiday decorations and of course a nice freshly cut tree. I remember a few years back I unbagged my tree from the lot, placed it in the stand and then noticing someting crawling up my arm....a spider!

This was not the first time, I have had ants, beetles and even a few slugs in my trees. So your probably thinking "If they were cut months before why are they still there?", at least thats what I used to ask myself. I have come to the conclusion that sure, some may be there from before they were cut such as the beetles and maybe...just maybe even the spider, but slugs and Ants?

Remember these tree's have been sitting in containers for a while, then unloaded onto a christmas tree lot, where they lay in piles on the ground or leaned against a fence allowing bugs of all sorts to climb in and make your tree their home. Before you take your tree into your home, I highly recomend unwrapping it and giving it a really good shake, afterwards inspect all the limbs making sure that your keeping the bugs where they belong...OUTSIDE!
