Star In a Clark Commercial - Redding

Audition for the Chance to Star in a Clark Pest Control Television Commercial

Lodi, Calif. (March 8, 2010) – Ever dream of seeing your face on the small screen?  Now is your chance!  Clark Pest Control is holding open auditions for the chance to star in an upcoming television commercial.  Participants will each create their own commercial in front of a green screen that will appear as a backdrop of a residential home or outdoor scene.  Props will be provided, but contestants can use their own creativity to ad-lib a 30-second spot ending with the widely recognized "Clark We Need You!" call for help.

The auditions to star in a Clark Pest Control commercial will take place from Noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 during the Redding Home and Garden Expo.  The Clark Pest Control booth and audition set will be in the Lassen Building (Building #1) at the Shasta District Fairgrounds, which is located at 1890 Briggs Street in Anderson.

Clark Pest Control has historically used humor in its commercials to convey the many problems its customers are encountering and the services they provide to counteract those issues. Before auditioning, contestants are encouraged to check out past television commercials at All of the auditions taped during the Redding Home and Garden Expo will be featured on the Clark Pest Control website following the event.

Since 2008, Clark Pest Control has held open auditions in various cities across California and Nevada looking for talent.  For the past two years, the company has cast people in its advertising campaigns that were discovered during these auditions.   When it comes time for Clark and its advertising agency to cast its 2011 campaign, the star might come from Redding!

Redding Pest Control - Shasta vector control district conducting tick survey

  • Bloodsucking creatures are lurking around Shasta County, hanging on a grass blade or twig near some of the most popular trails.

Ticks. Their name alone can make a person cringe, thinking of the unsavory chore of plucking one off his or her body or off a pet. And the little insects also can harbor disease.

While the county is known tick country, there haven't been many surveys over the years to see how prevalent they are and what diseases they might carry.

"We saw a gap there," said Peter Bonkrude, manager of the Shasta Mosquito and Vector Control District. "Overall, it was just a question mark."

So the district is checking the 1,100-square-mile section it covers in the county for ticks, said Bonkrude, who took over as manager six months ago. Since November, a pair of district technicians have spent a day each week collecting tick samples from 20 spots around the district, which stretches from Castella to Cottonwood and French Gulch to Shingletown.
